A law firm is seeking an Employment Associate Counsel to join their team in Washington, DC. The candidate will report directly to the Deputy Chief Employment Counsel and work closely with the Chief Employment Counsel. They will provide pragmatic advice and strategic support on various employment law issues, draft employment-related policies, and assist in handling employment-related disputes and litigation.

 

Duties:

  • Assist in protecting the firm's legal interests and maintaining compliance with employment laws.
  • Provide pragmatic advice and strategic support on employment law matters, including hiring, performance management, compensation, accommodations, and diversity programs.
  • Draft employment-related guidelines and policies.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Provide expertise and counsel to drive completion of employment-related projects, including policy roll-outs and training programs.
  • Handle employment-related disputes, investigations, and litigation with support from the Deputy Chief Employment Counsel.
  • Track important developments in employment law in jurisdictions where the firm has offices.

 

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of related experience in employment counseling and litigation or litigation management.
  • Prior in-house experience is strongly preferred.
  • Admitted to practice law and in good standing in the jurisdiction.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide pragmatic advice and strategic support.
  • Proficiency in drafting employment-related policies and guidelines.
  • Experience in handling employment-related disputes and litigation.
  • Efficient problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
