A law firm in San Jose is seeking an Advice and Counsel, Of Counsel attorney with extensive experience in employment law to provide strategic guidance and legal advice to clients on a wide range of employment-related matters.

Duties:

  • Conduct audits of employer practices, including wage and hour policies and procedures.
  • Draft and revise incentive compensation documents, including commission and bonus plans.
  • Develop and revise policies, handbooks, and other employee communication documents to ensure clarity and compliance with employment laws.
  • Simplify complex employment law issues for various audiences, ensuring understanding and compliance.
  • Present clients with multiple problem-solving options, outlining the advantages and disadvantages of each for informed decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in employment law, with a focus on advising employers on compliance matters.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local workplace and employment laws; familiarity with agency enforcement techniques is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and project management abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Experience conducting trainings or workplace investigations is preferred but not required.
