A law firm in Lake Success, NY, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Employment Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law and experience providing legal counsel on a wide range of employment-related matters. This role involves advising on compliance, handling litigation, and managing arbitration cases before administrative tribunals. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and provide legal advice on employment law matters, including hiring practices, employee relations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour issues.
  • Handle agency compliance actions, including audits and inspections.
  • Represent employers in arbitration cases before administrative tribunals such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and New York State Division of Human Rights.
  • Manage employment-related litigation from discovery through trial, including drafting discovery motions, motions to dismiss, and summary judgment motions.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and provide stakeholder recommendations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with clients' internal stakeholders, including HR, management, and other legal teams, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed about developments in employment law and advise on potential impacts to the organization.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the relevant State Bar Association.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience practicing employment law.
  • State and federal court litigation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
