Job Overview:
An established law firm in Chicago is seeking an experienced Real Estate Associate with 4-6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in general real estate, lending, and leasing, with particular expertise in acquisitions and development, real estate finance (borrower-side), and leasing across retail, office, and industrial properties. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong skills in legal writing, analysis, and negotiation. A solid academic background and excellent interpersonal abilities are required.

Location:

  • Chicago, Illinois

Duties:

  • Manage and assist with real estate transactions, including acquisitions and development projects
  • Handle real estate finance matters, focusing on borrower-side representation
  • Draft and negotiate retail, office, and industrial lease agreements
  • Provide legal counsel on various real estate matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws
  • Assist senior attorneys with more complex legal matters as needed
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships
  • Perform legal research and analysis on real estate-related issues
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to resolve issues effectively and efficiently

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in real estate law, preferably at a large law firm
  • Must be barred in Illinois
  • Strong experience in real estate leasing
  • Solid academic background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Barred in Illinois

Skills:

  • Expertise in real estate acquisitions, development, and finance
  • Proficient in drafting and negotiating commercial leases
  • Exceptional legal research and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
