Job Overview: A law firm specializing in litigation seeks a diligent and experienced Liability and Workers' Compensation Attorney to join their team in McLean, VA. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse caseload involving workers' compensation and employers' liability claims, providing defense for various clients in state and federal courts and administrative tribunals.

Duties:

  • Manage a high volume of cases, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on complex liability and workers' compensation issues.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate effectively with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, client meetings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and address concerns.

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in Virginia or eligible for admission via waiver.
  • 2+ years of experience in workers' compensation and employers' liability defense.
  • Strong academic credentials and demonstrated legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated with a proactive approach to case management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience handling cases involving product manufacturers in toxic tort claims, premises liability, general commercial liability disputes, and motor vehicle-related property and bodily injury claims.
  • Familiarity with lien disputes related to workers' compensation.
