Litigation Attorney

A law firm in Houston, TX, specializing in litigation, particularly in personal injury law, seeks a skilled Litigation Attorney to join their dynamic team. The role involves preparing cases for trial, drafting motions, negotiating settlements, and managing a litigation docket with support staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare litigation cases for trial, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and managing discovery.
• File petitions and other legal documents with the court.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and clients.
• Perform legal analysis and provide counsel on legal matters.
• Draft motions and responses to opposing counsel’s motions.
• Collaborate with support staff to manage the litigation docket effectively.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Texas State Bar.
• Preferably 2+ years of litigation experience, with at least 1 year of trial experience.
• Background in personal injury law preferred.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve disputes effectively.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Prior experience in drafting legal motions and managing discovery.
• Prosecutor background is a plus.
