Location:

Duties:

  • Draft new patent applications, including meeting with inventors to gather details of inventions and technologies.
  • Prepare responses to communications from U.S. and foreign patent offices.
  • Identify and analyze complex patent issues and patent applications.
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) personnel.
  • Assist with technical legal writing and provide analysis of patent-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering; a degree in electrical engineering or related fields (telecommunications, integrated circuits, etc.) is preferred.
  • For Patent Agents: Must be a registered patent agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • For Technical Specialists: Prior experience in technical legal writing is highly preferred.
  • Strong investigative and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of attorneys, staff, and clients.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as science or engineering.

Certifications:

  • Registered Patent Agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (for Patent Agent role).
  • Technical legal writing experience is preferred (for Technical Specialist role).

Skills:

  • Technical and analytical skills to conduct detailed patent-related analysis.
  • Strong communication skills for drafting patent applications and corresponding with clients and patent offices.
  • Investigative skills for identifying and resolving complex patent issues.
