Associate Attorney Civil Litigation

A law firm seeks an associate attorney with 0-1 year of litigation experience to join their busy team in Houston, TX. This full-time role provides the opportunity to work in all aspects of civil litigation, from pre-suit demands to post-judgment collections and appeals. The ideal candidate will be passionate about litigation and eager to gain hands-on experience across a wide variety of cases.

Duties:

• Attend hearings and represent clients in legal proceedings.
• Participate in depositions, including taking and defending them.
• Engage in mediation sessions and negotiate settlements.
• Draft motions and responses to motions in support of litigation efforts.
• Review and approve discovery documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare briefings as needed.
• Assist in trial preparation and attend trials as necessary.
• Draft demand letters and other legal correspondence.
• Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on case progress.

Requirements:

• 0-1 year of experience in civil litigation.
• Strong interest and willingness to handle various litigation tasks, including hearings, depositions, trials, and client management.
• Proficient in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the state of Texas (Texas Bar License required).

Skills:

• Experience with civil litigation procedures and processes.
• Ability to draft motions, responses, and legal documents clearly and effectively.
• Strong research and analytical abilities.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients and colleagues.
