Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm, located in Redwood City, CA, is currently seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team within the Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation practice. This position calls for an individual with solid expertise in insurance coverage issues, particularly within professional liability, general liability, and directors' and officers' insurance policies. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience and a demonstrated ability to manage complex insurance disputes.

Duties:

• Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other court documents
• Manage all stages of discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses, and handling discovery motion practice
• Take and defend depositions
• Represent clients in court hearings and appearances
• Provide legal counsel on complex insurance coverage and reinsurance matters
• Handle client communications and manage case progress independently
• Assist with business development and client management initiatives
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams to strategize and resolve cases

Requirements:

• 4-7 years of insurance coverage and commercial litigation experience
• Proven experience with complex claims high-exposure coverage and reinsurance disputes
• Ability to manage litigation matters independently and with minimal supervision
• Strong legal research and writing capabilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to think creatively and innovatively when approaching case strategies
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and contribute to business development

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of California

Skills:

• Strong litigation skills in both discovery and motion practice
• Expertise in insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance
• Ability to independently manage cases and work collaboratively with teams
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
