Estate Attorney

A law firm in Hartford, CT, is seeking an Estate Attorney with experience in estate planning and probate law to join their team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent drafting skills, client management capabilities, and a strong understanding of estate planning and tax matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Draft and deliver high-quality simple to complex wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
• Manage a manageable caseload of approximately 50 cases, gradually increasing to full capacity.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on various estate planning and probate issues.
• Craft persuasive motions, pleadings, and briefs for court proceedings.
• Consult with clients to understand their estate planning goals and needs.
• Provide advice on retirement plans, charitable contributions, and insurance options.
• Assist clients with asset distribution plans and estate administration strategies.
• Represent clients in probate court proceedings when necessary.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date client files and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and legal professionals.
• Ensure compliance with estate planning laws and regulations.
• Uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Connecticut State Bar in good standing.
• 1-2 years of experience at a law firm focusing on estate planning and probate law.
• Working knowledge of title insurance, wills, trusts, property management, and real estate law.
• Experience in estate tax matters is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Empathy and ability to build strong client relationships.
