Job Overview: The Bankruptcy Associate Attorney will be responsible for providing legal support and counsel to clients navigating bankruptcy proceedings. They will work closely with commercial debtors, creditors, lenders, and other stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes both in and outside of court. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of relevant experience and be admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York, with additional jurisdiction admissions being welcomed.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in bankruptcy proceedings, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 filings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support bankruptcy cases and provide strategic guidance to clients.
  • Draft and file bankruptcy petitions, motions, and other court documents.
  • Attend court hearings, negotiations, and mediation sessions on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to develop case strategies and achieve client objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in bankruptcy matters.
  • Stay current on developments in bankruptcy law and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in the state and federal courts of New York.
  • 2-4 years of experience in bankruptcy law, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Strong understanding of bankruptcy procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the state and federal courts of New York.
