A leading intellectual property law firm is seeking a Patent Attorney with a background in Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), or Computer Engineering (CE). The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in technology and protecting innovations. This role is open to both recent graduates with technical backgrounds and experienced attorneys eligible to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The position offers the flexibility to work remotely, with a focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance while providing exceptional client service.

Duties:

  • Assist clients with patent preparation and prosecution in fields related to computer science, electrical engineering, and related technologies.
  • Draft and file patent applications, as well as respond to office actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze the patentability of new inventions.
  • Collaborate with inventors and clients to understand and protect their technological innovations.
  • Provide legal counsel on intellectual property strategies and patent portfolio management.
  • Stay current with developments in patent law and relevant technologies.

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in intellectual property law and protecting technological innovations.
  • Experience or educational background in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering.
  • Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with clients.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Registered or eligible to register before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Strong technical background in relevant areas of technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in intellectual property law, particularly patent prosecution, is a plus.
