A law firm in Waukesha, WI, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in litigation, particularly in drafting and responding to discovery, drafting motions, and drafting briefs in both state and federal law. Additionally, experience in employment law, including wage and hour claims, discrimination claims, and post-employment restrictions, is required. Experience in labor law, particularly with unions, would be a plus. Direct client contact experience is highly desirable for this role.

Duties:

  • Handle a diverse caseload involving litigation matters in state and federal courts.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
  • Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents for court filings.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and mediations.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on employment law matters, including wage and hour claims, discrimination claims, and post-employment restrictions.
  • Assist with labor law matters, including issues related to unions and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, informing them about case developments and strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff on case strategy and management.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Wisconsin State Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • 2-5 years of experience practicing law, focusing on litigation.
  • Experience drafting and responding to discovery, motions, and briefs in state and federal law.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, including wage and hour claims, discrimination claims, and post-employment restrictions.
  • Experience with labor law, particularly with unions, would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.

Education and Certifications:
