A law firm seeks an experienced associate attorney with 2-5 years of expertise in privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA. The successful candidate will assist clients in navigating complex privacy regulations, including drafting and negotiating agreements related to data security and compliance. This hybrid position offers flexibility in work location and requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other data protection laws.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review privacy provisions in contracts, data security agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Develop and implement privacy compliance programs and policies for clients.
  • Manage multiple client matters, ensuring timely and efficient execution of projects.
  • Conduct in-depth research on emerging privacy laws, regulations, and legal trends.
  • Assist clients with data breach response planning and risk management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive legal services.
  • Simplify complex legal concepts and communicate them clearly to clients and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related transactional law.
  • Strong expertise in privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other U.S. and international data protection regulations.
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills, especially related to privacy and data security provisions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision in all legal work.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating with a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Excellent academic performance preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the bar of the state where the attorney is practicing.
  • CIPP certification or similar data privacy credential is highly desirable, though not required.

Skills:

  • Expertise in privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating privacy agreements, data security terms, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to stay up to date with evolving data privacy regulations.
  • Proficient in contract negotiation and legal analysis.
