A law firm seeks a highly skilled and motivated Construction Associate Attorney to join its growing Construction Group in New York, NY. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex construction and real estate matters, representing prominent developers and institutions. The ideal candidate will have 3-12 years of experience in construction law or real estate law, with strong expertise in negotiating and drafting construction agreements, managing liens, and handling construction-related disputes. The firm fosters a collegial and dynamic work environment with a hybrid schedule.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on a wide range of construction law issues, including negotiating and drafting construction agreements and license/access agreements.
  • Handle mechanics liens, lien foreclosures, and RPAPL 881 proceedings.
  • Address construction and design defects, delays, and related disputes.
  • Work closely with other practice groups to collaborate on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Provide legal analysis and strategic guidance to clients in the construction industry.
  • Draft and review legal documents, such as contracts and pleadings, with a focus on construction and real estate matters.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and settlement discussions related to construction issues.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, keeping them informed about case progress and legal options.
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and legal matters are handled efficiently.

Requirements:

  • 3-12 years of experience in construction law or real estate law.
  • Expertise in negotiating and drafting construction agreements, license agreements, and access agreements.
  • Experience with mechanics liens, lien foreclosures, RPAPL 881 proceedings, construction delays, and design defects.
  • Strong writing, legal analysis, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced workload with multiple cases and tight deadlines.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
