Job Title: Family Law Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm located in San Antonio, TX is currently seeking a motivated, experienced Family Law Attorney to join their team. This role will involve managing a caseload related to family law matters, representing clients in court, and overseeing a team of paralegals. The ideal candidate will have strong trial advocacy skills and a passion for helping families navigate legal challenges.

Duties:

  • Manage and prioritize a diverse caseload of family law matters
  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to paralegals
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely action on open cases
  • Review and maintain proper case records and documentation
  • Draft and review petitions, counterpetitions, and pre-trial discovery
  • Represent clients in court as first-chair at bench and jury trials
  • Attend depositions, mediations, and other case-related proceedings
  • Handle post-judgment motions, appeals, and other follow-up actions
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the Family Department for case support
  • Participate in departmental meetings and strategy discussions
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, court personnel, and other legal professionals
  • Conduct performance evaluations for paralegals and assist with disciplinary actions as needed
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by senior attorneys or management

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant family law experience
  • Proven trial and litigation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage a flexible work schedule and adapt to client needs
  • Strong sense of accountability and work ethic
  • Ability to travel occasionally

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas
