Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a robust portfolio of life science intellectual property cases.
  • Provide strategic advice on IP issues related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets in the life sciences sector.
  • Represent clients in complex litigation, including patent infringement suits and IP disputes.
  • Negotiate and draft IP-related agreements, including licensing agreements, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.
  • Oversee and manage IP prosecution, including preparing and filing patent applications and responding to office actions.
  • Conduct thorough IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and legal developments impacting life science IP.
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and legal staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
  • Cultivate and expand client relationships, leveraging a strong network and business development skills.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated portable book of business exceeding $600,000.
  • Extensive experience in life science IP law, including prosecution, transactional, and litigation matters.
  • Proven track record of managing complex IP portfolios and high-profile cases.
  • Strong business development understanding and ability to generate new business opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) or equivalent experience.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar in New Mexico (or eligibility to obtain).

Skills:
