Job Overview:

A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, seeks an entry-level investigations attorney to join its dynamic legal team. This role involves advising clients on their legal rights, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in court. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in Criminal Defense law, demonstrated through academic or volunteer experiences, and be eager to manage a caseload effectively.

Key Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and obligations in various legal matters.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents relevant to clients’ cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide post-hearing strategic advice.
  • Manage court appearances, including trials, motion drafting, and witness interviews.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze case precedents to predict probable outcomes.
  • Accumulate additional evidence to support clients' cases or counter-prosecution arguments.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and identify critical goals for case strategies.
  • Gather information from witnesses and experts that support clients’ positions.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to assess potential case benefits.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar admission or a recent graduate awaiting Bar admission.
  • Demonstrated interest in Criminal Defense law, evidenced by participation in law school clinics, internships, or volunteer work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience using Case Management Software is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a legal team.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Active Bar admission (or awaiting admission).
