Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Trusts & Estates team. The position involves providing comprehensive legal services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and businesses, focusing on estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting estate planning documents, administering trusts and estates, and representing clients in probate proceedings. This is a hybrid remote opportunity available across multiple office locations, offering flexibility in work arrangements.

Location:

  • Boston, MA

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to clients on estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters.
  • Draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.
  • Advise clients on strategies for minimizing estate taxes and protecting assets.
  • Assist with the administration of estates and trusts, managing asset distribution, and resolving disputes.
  • Prepare and file necessary legal documents for estate and trust proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research to stay updated on developments in estate planning, tax law, and probate law.
  • Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to develop comprehensive estate plans for clients.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings related to probate and trust administration as needed.
  • Regular travel to the Bantam office required for a CT-based attorney.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and understanding of client needs.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience as a trusts and estates attorney.
  • Admission to New York, Connecticut, and/or Massachusetts Bar (or ability to waive in) required.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Experience in drafting estate planning documents, including various types of trusts, and complex estate/trust administration.
  • Experience with estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns.
  • Experience representing fiduciaries and beneficiaries in probate court proceedings.
  • Strong writing, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail, responsibility, and dedication to client service.
  • Professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities at all organizational levels.
  • Military experience is welcomed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to the bar in New York, Connecticut, and/or Massachusetts (or ability to waive in).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
