Job Overview: A law firm in Redlands, CA is seeking a highly skilled Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to handle all aspects of litigation for workers’ compensation claims. The ideal candidate will represent clients, including insurance companies, third-party administrators, and employer representatives, in defending against workers' compensation claims. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience, a strong litigation background, excellent verbal and writing skills, and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Handle all aspects of workers' compensation defense litigation, including:
    • Discovery, depositions, and trial preparation
    • Arbitrations, liens, and settlement negotiations
  • Case evaluation and preparation
  • File pleadings in response to applicant claims
  • Appear at Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) hearings
  • Prepare and attend depositions and hearings
  • Provide status updates and reports to clients
  • Correspond with clients and other parties involved in claims
  • Develop and recommend legal strategies for cases
  • Write briefs and other legal documents
  • Perform legal research and analyze cases for potential outcomes
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
  • Administrative duties related to the practice of law
  • Develop plans of action based on case details

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of workers' compensation defense experience
  • Must be in good standing with the California Bar Association
  • Strong litigation experience with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle a heavy caseload effectively
  • Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation law
  • Ability to identify legal issues in other practice areas

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in California
  • Good standing with the California Bar Association
