A law firm in Madison, WI, seeks an experienced Energy Transition Transactional Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of broad transactional experience, focusing on energy transition projects including hydrogen, carbon capture, renewable fuels, lithium extraction, and traditional renewable energy projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in complex transactional and project development matters related to energy transition projects.
  • Advise on mergers and acquisitions, land purchase agreements, and offtake agreements (e.g., power purchase agreements).
  • Negotiate and draft project documents including EPC contracts, equipment supply agreements, and O&M agreements.
  • Draft agreements such as hydrogen purchase agreements, lithium extraction leases, joint venture agreements, and LLC agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel on pore space leases and partnership agreements.

 

Requirements:

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Bar of Wisconsin or eligibility for admission.
  • 3-6 years of transactional experience with exposure to energy transition projects and traditional upstream or midstream oil and gas projects.
  • Strong drafting skills and experience in project management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and environmental considerations in energy projects is advantageous.

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.

 

Education and Certifications:

JD degree from an ABA-approved law school.
