Position Title: Patent Associate Attorney

Job Overview: An esteemed law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking a skilled Patent Associate Attorney to join its dynamic Intellectual Property Practice Group. This role involves collaborating with a diverse client base, from emerging startups to established industry leaders, in developing and managing robust patent portfolios. With a strong local presence and access to a national and global platform, this firm offers the opportunity to tackle complex intellectual property challenges across various technological domains.

Duties:

  • Collaborate on strategic patent portfolio development and management.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications, particularly in computer-related fields (software, AI/ML, web applications, telecommunications, integrated circuits).
  • Provide insightful guidance and counseling to clients regarding intellectual property issues.
  • Work directly with clients to address and support their IP needs and innovations.

Requirements:

  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in drafting software-related patent applications is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.

Education:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science preferred.
  • Degrees in Mechanical Engineering or related fields will also be considered with relevant experience.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is required.

Skills:

  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Proficiency in patent drafting and prosecution.
  • Strong client interaction skills, with the ability to convey complex information.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
