Job Overview

A distinguished law firm in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an experienced attorney to join its specialized Institutional Response Group. This role involves addressing complex civil rights and compliance matters, including Title IX and related regulatory frameworks. The attorney will provide critical support to institutions through investigations, policy development, and process implementation to ensure compliance and promote a safe, inclusive environment.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough investigations under Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, and other civil rights or criminal laws involving sexual and gender-based harassment, violence, and discrimination.
  • Develop and implement trauma-informed, equitable, and unbiased prevention and resolution processes for institutions.
  • Draft and refine policies, procedures, and educational materials related to compliance and institutional safety.
  • Advise clients on compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act, child protection standards, and related regulations.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions, corporations, and non-profits to address systemic challenges and design infrastructure for legal and procedural compliance.
  • Guide on governance issues, including compliance systems and resolution protocols.
  • Participate in consultations and training sessions to support institutional staff and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience conducting investigations and handling compliance matters related to Title IX, the Clery Act, and civil rights laws.
  • Proven expertise in drafting and implementing policies, procedures, and educational tools for institutions.
  • Ability to manage complex organizational and legal matters independently.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with institutional stakeholders and team members.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina.
