Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a highly qualified Associate for their Privacy & Cyber (Transactional) practice group. The role is ideal for an attorney with a minimum of two years of privacy law experience, with a focus on regulatory compliance and corporate transactions related to data privacy and security. The position will involve working with clients across industries on complex data privacy issues and high-profile compliance and transactional matters, including M&A deals and IPOs. The successful candidate should have excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.

Location:

  • Austin, TX

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on compliance with privacy laws and regulations
  • Negotiate privacy and security provisions of commercial services agreements
  • Handle privacy and security aspects of corporate transactions, including M&A deals and IPOs
  • Draft and negotiate privacy-related clauses in corporate agreements
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Lead matters proactively and efficiently
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals on data privacy and security issues
  • Provide insights into the intersection of technology and privacy law

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in privacy law, with exposure to corporate transactional work
  • Experience with commercial contracts and regulatory compliance related to data privacy and security
  • Proven ability to manage privacy and security components in corporate transactions (e.g., M&A deals, IPOs)
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Superior verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong understanding of privacy laws and regulations
  • Familiarity with technology and online technologies is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • CIPP certification (preferred, but not required)
