Job Overview: A law firm in Boston is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented associate attorney to join its insurance coverage and general litigation practice groups. This hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of complex litigation matters, representing insurance companies and diverse clients in both state and federal courts. Ideal candidates will have 2-5 years of litigation experience with a background in defense, insurance coverage, and related areas. The position also provides the flexibility of working across New England, with additional bar admissions being a plus.

Duties:

  • Represent insurance companies in coverage disputes and bad faith claims in state and federal courts.
  • Handle general litigation matters for a broad range of clients, including medical professionals, property managers, employers, and contractors.
  • Advise clients on insurance coverage matters, offering pre-litigation counsel to avoid bad faith exposure.
  • Manage all aspects of litigation, from initial case evaluation to trial and settlement negotiations.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide comprehensive analysis of cases.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.
  • Attend mediations, depositions, hearings, and trials as required.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice defense, personal injury defense, premises liability, insurance defense, and/or insurance coverage.
  • Knowledge of bad faith claims and insurance coverage issues is a plus.
  • Active admission to the Massachusetts Bar or ability to quickly obtain admission.
  • Bar admissions in Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, and/or Rhode Island are advantageous.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Active Massachusetts Bar admission (required) or other applicable state bar admissions.

Skills:

  • Outstanding research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently and within a collaborative team.

This mid-sized firm has a substantial corporate practice with a heart. While these attorneys practice in every area, the best work here is being done at the corporate stage. Don't look for the huge mergers and acquisitions here, though. Do look for growing or just forming corporations to credit their early success to this law firm, which is flexible in handling corporate and transactional issues facing small or young companies. With a lot of support for associates to publish and contribute to the legal community, lawyers here are valued outside just billable hours, which provides an academic and friendly atmosphere.

Your information will not be forwarded to any employers at this time. A recruiter will contact you with more information once our internal review of your resume is completed.
