A law firm seeks an entry-level Immigration Attorney to join its growing legal team in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a newly licensed attorney to gain practical experience in immigration law while working alongside a supportive and experienced team. As an Immigration Attorney, you will handle a variety of immigration cases, interact with clients, and collaborate with other legal professionals, all while receiving mentorship and guidance from senior attorneys.

Duties:

  • Provide legal guidance on various immigration matters, including presenting strategies and advising clients
  • Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in immigration proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a caseload of diverse immigration matters, ensuring timely and effective case progression
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained clients at immigration detention centers
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, such as family-based petitions and removal defense documents
  • Review immigration packets and make necessary amendments to ensure accuracy
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding updates and changes to immigration law
  • Consult with potential clients to assess their immigration needs and formulate appropriate legal strategies
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings, interviews, or testimony before USCIS
  • Analyze legal issues and provide recommendations to clients regarding possible outcomes
  • Draft and file legal briefs and other documents for various immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of experience in immigration law, including relevant law school internships or volunteer work
  • Strong teamwork orientation, with a collaborative approach to working with other associates and staff
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and advance cases forward efficiently
  • Experience with case management software is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission (candidates awaiting bar results will also be considered)

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and other USCIS applications
  • Proficient in legal research and legal writing
  • Experience using case management software is preferred
