Job Overview:
A well-established law firm located in Kansas City is seeking an Associate Attorney to become an integral part of their Bankruptcy team. This role involves representing consumers in Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy cases, defending against debt collection and foreclosure actions, and advocating for consumer rights in legal matters. The Associate Attorney will work closely with clients, judges, trustees, and other legal professionals in both state and federal courts. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for consumer protection law.

Duties:

• Provide legal counsel to clients regarding bankruptcy matters.
• Draft, review, and file bankruptcy petitions and related legal documents.
• Draft, review, and file legal pleadings in debt collection cases.
• Represent clients at hearings in bankruptcy court.
• Attend hearings in debt collection cases on behalf of clients.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in Kansas or Missouri, or willingness to obtain licensure.
• Open to candidates with recent law school graduates or attorneys with 1-3 years of experience.
• Strong ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active State Bar license in Kansas or Missouri, or willingness to obtain.

Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
• Proficiency in legal research and writing.
