Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team in Birmingham, AL. This full-time position offers the opportunity to represent clients across Alabama in a wide range of criminal defense matters. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience, particularly in criminal law, and be committed to providing quality defense while working collaboratively with a dedicated legal team.

Duties:

• Represent clients in criminal cases across Alabama, handling all aspects of defense work.
• Prepare legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
• Attend court hearings, trials, and depositions, providing strong advocacy for clients.
• Conduct legal research to support defense strategies and case preparation.
• Work closely with a team of attorneys and support staff to manage cases effectively.
• Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with all legal procedures and deadlines.
• Communicate regularly with clients to update them on case progress and provide legal counsel.
• Collaborate with other legal professionals to strategize and build defense cases.

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of experience in criminal defense or litigation.
• Strong courtroom experience, with a focus on criminal law preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in case management.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a current member in good standing with the Alabama State Bar.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Alabama State Bar is required.
