A law firm in New Orleans, LA is seeking an Appellate Associate Attorney to join its appellate practice. The ideal candidate will have recent clerkship experience with the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals or the Louisiana Supreme Court, and possess exceptional legal research and writing abilities. The role requires a Louisiana law license and involves handling complex appellate matters, conducting in-depth legal research, and drafting high-quality legal briefs.

Duties:

  • Handle appellate cases from initial filing through to the resolution of appeals.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on complex legal issues and precedents.
  • Draft persuasive and well-reasoned appellate briefs, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Review and analyze trial records and briefs for potential appeal issues.
  • Provide legal analysis and recommendations based on appellate research and case review.
  • Prepare for and assist in oral arguments before appellate courts.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective appellate strategies.
  • Manage multiple appellate cases simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Stay updated on developments in appellate law and procedural changes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding the status and strategy of their appeals.

Requirements:

  • Recent clerkship experience with the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals or the Louisiana Supreme Court.
  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to draft persuasive and high-quality appellate briefs and legal documents.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal issues and case management.
  • Louisiana law license required.
  • Experience with appellate procedures and practices.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
