A law firm in Whippany, NJ, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Associate Family Law Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience, trial experience, and the ability to handle a divorce trial. The role involves managing a caseload of approximately 30-40 cases, with at least 50% of the practice dedicated to family law.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, alimony, and related issues.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 30-40 cases, ensuring timely and effective case progression.
  • Attend and advocate for clients in court hearings, trials, and mediations.
  • Provide clients with sound legal advice and develop case strategies.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure comprehensive legal services.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the New Jersey State Bar.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in family law, with trial experience and the ability to handle a divorce trial.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Certifications and Skills:

  • Certification in Family Law is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in legal research, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
