Job Title: Trademark Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Chicago is seeking a Trademark Associate Attorney with at least 5 years of experience in trademark law. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of trademark-related matters, including trademark clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and litigation, while collaborating closely with clients and mentoring junior attorneys. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in intellectual property law and a passion for branding, marketing, and related legal fields.

Duties:

• Supervise and mentor junior associates.
• Take initiative in managing client responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Conduct trademark clearance searches and provide legal opinions.
• Prepare and prosecute applications for trademark registration.
• Draft and respond to office action refusals.
• Advise clients on building and enforcing trademark portfolios, including handling opposition proceedings, litigation, and dispute resolution.
• Manage domestic and international trademark portfolios.
• Handle disputes related to advertising, promotions, contests, and sweepstakes.
• Advise on copyright protection, enforcement, and defense.
• Manage anti-counterfeiting litigation and domain name disputes.
• Participate in business development activities.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of focused trademark legal experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Illinois or another state, with eligibility to sit for the Illinois bar exam.
• Demonstrated expertise in trademark prosecution and litigation.
• Experience in conducting trademark searches and providing clearance opinions.
• Exposure to trademark infringement litigation; and anti-counterfeiting experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with domain name disputes and advertising law.
• Knowledge of copyright law, including registration and enforcement.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois or licensed in another state with eligibility to sit for the Illinois bar.
