A law firm in Charleston, SC, is seeking a Litigation Attorney. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of insurance defense litigation experience, including handling depositions, motions, and experts. Alternatively, candidates with clerkship experience at the trial court or appellate court level (Federal or State) and knowledge of both Federal and State Rules of civil procedure will be considered. Helpful experience would include litigation defense work in areas such as trucking & transportation, medical malpractice, professional liability, premises liability, commercial litigation, etc. Candidates must be admitted to practice law in South Carolina and have completed the 403 requirements. Strong communication, research, and writing skills are essential for this role.

Duties:

  • Handle insurance defense litigation matters.
  • Conduct depositions and motions.
  • Utilize expertise in various areas of litigation defense.
  • Comply with Federal and State Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
  • Research and write legal documents and briefs.
  • Provide sound legal advice and representation.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of insurance defense litigation experience or clerkship experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Rules of civil procedure.
  • Completed 403 requirements.
  • Strong communication, research, and writing skills.
  • Admission to practice law in South Carolina.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the South Carolina State Bar.

Skills:

  • Litigation experience.
  • Depositions and motions.
  • Legal research and analysis.
  • Legal document drafting and review.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Compliance with legal standards and procedures.
