A law firm seeks a dedicated Veterans Disability Attorney to join its mission-driven team, providing essential legal support to veterans and their families. This role is ideal for an accredited VA attorney passionate about advocacy for veterans, with a commitment to delivering comprehensive legal care and guidance. The position involves managing a team of paralegals, representing veterans in hearings, and ensuring a seamless client experience.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise a team of paralegals, providing support and guidance to ensure effective service for veteran clients
  • Serve as the primary contact for veteran clients, delivering clear communication and legal counsel throughout their cases
  • Represent clients at hearings before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA)
  • Conduct informal conferences with the VA and participate in other proceedings to advocate for veterans’ benefits
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients and team members, helping to determine the best course of action for each case
  • Prepare and draft legal documents supporting veterans’ claims
  • Conduct initial consultations with prospective veteran clients to assess needs and determine how the firm can best assist
  • Maintain organized client files, ensuring essential information is accessible to the team
  • Collaborate closely with senior attorneys to achieve efficient case resolutions
  • Participate in marketing and networking efforts, including writing articles and speaking engagements, as delegated by the partners

Requirements

  • Accreditation: Must be an accredited VA attorney
  • Experience: In-depth knowledge of VA law and experience with Veterans Benefits cases
  • Research Skills: Strong research and writing skills essential for legal documentation and case preparation
  • Team Management: Experience managing a team of paralegals or legal staff is preferred
  • Licensure: Florida bar licensure is preferred, but attorneys from other states will be considered

Education

  • Degree: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • VA Accreditation: Required for representation in veterans’ cases
