Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking mid-level and senior associates to join its expanding team in Los Angeles. This role involves working with the firm’s Public Entity Defense team, which represents public entities in complex matters including catastrophic personal injury, premises liability, and civil rights litigation. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience in both state and federal courts, with a focus on research, writing, and a keen interest in depositions and trial advocacy. Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Represent public entities in catastrophic personal injury, premises liability, and civil rights litigation.
  • Manage litigation cases through all stages, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research and write motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Provide legal analysis and advice to clients.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys and contribute to trial advocacy.
  • Participate in a collaborative, team-based environment while managing caseloads efficiently.
  • Engage in business development efforts, including client relations and participation in marketing initiatives.
  • Contribute to the firm’s pro bono efforts and community outreach programs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of litigation experience.
  • Experience with both state and federal court litigation.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proven interest and experience in depositions and trial work.
  • Ability to manage cases independently while working collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to a high standard of professional ethics and client service.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice in California.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and trial preparation skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to take and defend depositions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
