Job Overview

A distinguished law firm is seeking a mid- to senior-level associate to join its Energy, Infrastructure, and Project Finance practice. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of industry-leading clients in the renewable energy sector. The ideal candidate will handle high-level matters related to the development, acquisition, and financing of renewable energy projects, with a focus on project contracts, M&A, and financing transactions. The position provides meaningful client engagement and substantial transactional responsibility in a rapidly growing and innovative practice area.

Location

  • Washington, DC

Duties

  • Represent sponsors and financing parties in renewable energy project transactions

  • Draft, review, and negotiate development and project operation contracts, including:

    • EPC Agreements

    • Supply Agreements

    • Offtake Agreements

    • O&M Agreements

  • Work on M&A transactions and financing agreements, including tax equity and debt financing

  • Collaborate directly with clients, internal teams, and third-party advisors

  • Take ownership of projects and contribute to complex legal solutions in the energy sector

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the energy industry

  • Prior work in a large law firm with a national reputation or an equivalent in-house counsel role

  • Significant experience with renewable energy projects

  • Strong understanding of project development contracts and/or energy financing documentation

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a top-tier accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the State Bar in the state of residence

Skills

  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements

  • Excellent communication, writing, research, and analytical skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Comfortable working independently and within collaborative teams

  • Confident in engaging with clients and managing external advisors
