A highly regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Data Privacy Attorney to join its growing team in Des Moines. The ideal candidate will have significant experience advising clients on privacy compliance, including data protection laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex legal issues related to data privacy and security while contributing to a dynamic and collaborative team.

Duties

  • Advise clients on privacy compliance and data protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to address complex legal issues related to data privacy and security.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review data privacy agreements and policies.
  • Support clients in managing and mitigating privacy risks.
  • Provide counsel on incident response, data breaches, and regulatory inquiries.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in data privacy and protection law.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to resolve complex privacy and security matters.
  • Prior experience in a corporate, law firm, or in-house legal department is preferred.
  • A portable book of business with growth potential is preferred.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa and in good standing.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa.
