Litigation Attorney

A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Litigation Attorney to join its team in New York, with the option for hybrid work arrangements. This position requires a Connecticut Bar license and offers a dynamic opportunity for professional growth in civil litigation. The ideal candidate will have a background in general liability or professional liability law and will be involved in all stages of litigation, from case initiation to trial preparation. This is a full-time position offering the chance to work in a collaborative and flexible environment, handling a variety of complex legal matters.

Duties

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, from case initiation to expert discovery and trial.
• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.
• Conduct thorough legal research and manage discovery investigations.
• Draft and review discovery requests, responses, motions, case evaluation summaries, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
• Review discovery responses and depositions, preparing summaries and litigation update reports.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing legal analysis, status updates, and strategic advice throughout litigation.

Requirements

• Must be barred in Connecticut.
• Experience in drafting discovery documents, taking the lead on depositions, and arguing motions.
• Strong writing and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Experience with LexisNexis or similar legal research software.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Connecticut.
