Intellectual Property Litigation Associate

A law firm seeks a talented and motivated IP Litigation Associate to join its San Francisco office. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in patent litigation and a strong academic background. This role will involve hands-on participation in various aspects of intellectual property litigation, including trial preparation, depositions, motions, and discovery management. The position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and gain exposure to high-stakes intellectual property disputes.

Duties

• Handle various aspects of patent litigation, including motions, depositions, discovery, and trial preparation.
• Manage expert reports and assist with the development and implementation of case strategies.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of motions, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
• Work closely with senior attorneys to prepare cases for trial, including legal research and drafting.
• Provide support in pretrial and trial phases, including managing discovery and depositions.
• Contribute to case strategy development and assist with expert witness preparation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage litigation timelines and deliverables.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in patent litigation or IP-related legal work.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with discovery management and deposition preparation.
• PTAB experience is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the state bar in good standing (California preferred).

Skills

• Strong research and analytical abilities, particularly related to IP law.
• Exceptional writing skills, including experience drafting legal documents and briefs.
• Ability to manage complex litigation processes and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• A background in science or technology is preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and clients.
