Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation team. This position offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an attorney with a strong background in patent prosecution and litigation. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in managing patent cases, from pre-litigation through trial, with the ability to supervise junior associates and coordinate case activities.

Duties:

• Manage complex patent litigation cases, including preparation of motions, briefs, and other key litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions, work with expert witnesses, and handle discovery matters.
• Lead PTAB and trial proceedings, representing clients in intellectual property matters.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, ensuring effective case management.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies for patent litigation matters.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding case progress and legal strategies.
• Maintain accurate records and organize case files to ensure smooth project execution.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in IP litigation, including trial and PTAB proceedings.
• Proven ability to manage litigation cases and mentor junior legal staff.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a demonstrated ability to draft complex legal documents.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities to handle multiple cases concurrently.
• Candidates with an engineering degree are preferred.
• Must be licensed to practice law in South Carolina or eligible for licensure.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• A background in engineering or a technical field is a plus, especially for patent prosecution work.

Certifications:

• Admitted to the USPTO is preferred but not required.

Skills:

• Strong written and oral communication.

• Experience with patent litigation, including PTAB.
