Patent Agent

A law firm is currently seeking a Patent Agent with a strong background in chemistry for their office in Raleigh, NC.

Job Overview:

The Patent Agent will be responsible for supporting the drafting and prosecution of patents, requiring a solid foundation in chemical engineering or chemistry. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience and must be a member of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Advanced degrees and prior work experience before taking the agency exam are strongly preferred.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patents, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Conduct research to support patent prosecution efforts.
• Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and other stakeholders in the patent application.
• Analyze technical documents and communicate effectively with clients.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (advanced degrees preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in patent drafting and prosecution.
• USPTO membership is mandatory.

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (advanced degrees strongly preferred).
• Membership in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
