A law firm in Cape Girardeau, MO, is seeking an Associate Attorney who will handle court appearances, litigation motions, trial preparations, and client communications. The role requires travel within the region and multi-tasking skills to manage a high-volume caseload effectively.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and appear in court for scheduled hearings and proceedings.
  • Coordinate coverage for court appearances when unable to attend, ensuring all necessary documents are provided.
  • Draft, review, and file motions and other legal documents as required during litigation.
  • Prepare for trials and arbitrations, including potential overnight stays in distant counties.
  • Communicate with clients, their employers, and other attorneys to resolve legal matters and debt collection suits.
  • Maintain licensure to practice law in Kansas and Missouri; additional licenses in IA, NE, ID, CA, WA, OR, AK, HI, NV are a plus.
  • Utilize personal transportation for timely court appearances and occasional travel, with reimbursement for mileage and other approved expenses.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the States of Kansas and Missouri.
  • Additional bar admissions in IA, NE, ID, CA, WA, OR, AK, HI, NV are welcomed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
