A reputable law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Boca Raton office, focusing on Defense Base Act (DBA) and War Hazards Compensation Act (WHCA) claims. This position involves representing clients in federal administrative proceedings, analyzing claims documentation, and advising clients through all phases of litigation and settlement. The ideal candidate will have strong legal research and writing skills, along with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload and communicate effectively with clients and government agencies.

Duties

  • Draft legal petitions, motions, and correspondence for matters involving the Defense Base Act

  • Analyze and summarize claims documents, including medical records, incident reports, and employment files

  • Conduct legal evaluations of claims to assess recovery likelihood and value

  • Identify and obtain additional documentation necessary to support claims

  • Participate in Department of Labor conferences to discuss case status and resolution strategies

  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case developments and legal strategy

  • Collaborate with opposing counsel to resolve disputes and negotiate settlements

  • Prioritize and manage legal assignments to ensure timely case handling

Requirements

  • Prior experience in workers' compensation, federal claims, or insurance defense preferred

  • Familiarity with the Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation Act is an advantage

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage deadlines across multiple active cases

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Florida
