A law firm seeks a highly motivated Mid-level Employment Associate for its Short Hills, NJ office. This position offers a hybrid work environment with some in-office expectations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in labor and employment law, including litigation, counseling, and transactional work. Occasional travel will be required.

Duties:

  • Manage litigation related to class action and single plaintiff cases, including matters related to wage and bonus disputes, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and misclassification.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on employment law matters, including the drafting and negotiation of employment, termination, severance, and related agreements.
  • Advise on employment aspects of corporate transactions, including conducting employment due diligence.
  • Handle issues related to restrictive covenants, employee mobility, compensation practices, commission plans, employee policies, training, and leave of absence/accommodations (e.g., FMLA, ADA).
  • Represent clients before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
  • Support and contribute to the defense of class and collective actions.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of experience in labor and employment law, including litigation, advice and counsel, and transactional work.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal employment laws, including wage and hour laws, discrimination laws, and court/agency practices.
  • Experience defending class and collective actions and providing ongoing legal advice to clients.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in New Jersey and/or New York.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong business judgment and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated ability in both oral and written communication.
  • Ability to manage and influence others effectively.
  • Persuasive communication and problem-solving capabilities.
