Job Title: Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent to work closely with their Intellectual Property (IP) team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in patent application drafting and prosecution and a solid technical background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering. They will assist in various patent-related tasks, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patent searches, and supporting litigation matters.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with the IP team to draft and prosecute patent applications before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office
  • Assist IP attorneys in representing clients involved in Patent Office proceedings, patent litigation, and general patent prosecution matters
  • Complete patentability assessments and conduct third-party patent searches
  • Perform patent diligence for mergers and acquisitions
  • Support the IP team with patent clearance and enforcement projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
  • 3+ years of intellectual property experience in patent transactional matters
  • USPTO registration number
  • Advanced technical degree preferred
  • Strong patent application drafting and prosecution experience
  • Well-developed patent database search skills
  • Substantive academic and professional knowledge in relevant fields
  • Excellent time management skills, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration number

Skills:

  • Proficiency in patent application drafting and prosecution
  • Advanced technical knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
