Job Overview:

The Family Law Associate Attorney will represent clients in a variety of family law matters, with a focus on achieving favorable outcomes while maintaining professionalism and ethical standards. The candidate will work closely with a legal team and handle all aspects of litigation from start to finish.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child support, adoptions, and protective orders.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings and motions.
  • Attend hearings, and pretrial conferences, and negotiate settlements.
  • Collaborate with team members to manage cases efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure they are informed and supported throughout the legal process.

Requirements:

  • Active membership in the Virginia State Bar (or awaiting bar results).
  • Strong verbal and legal writing skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work under deadlines.
  • Reliable transportation for attending court hearings and other legal proceedings.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Virginia State Bar membership is required (consideration is given to candidates who are awaiting results).

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Litigation experience or interest in developing litigation skills.
  • Spanish language proficiency (preferred but not required).
