Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an Associate with expertise in international arbitration and cross-border litigation. This full-time position involves managing and litigating complex international disputes before various tribunals and courts.

Location:

  • New York City  

Duties:

  • Manage and litigate international arbitration matters and cross-border litigation in federal and state courts.
  • Conduct legal research on issues related to international commercial and investment arbitration.
  • Interview witnesses and prepare written witness statements to develop case facts.
  • Draft pleadings for international arbitrations, including claims, defenses, requests for interim measures, and post-hearing briefs.
  • Handle non-administered ad-hoc arbitrations and assist in jurisdictional and merit hearings.
  • Engage in discovery practices, including e-discovery, and attend hearings and trials to support partners and senior associates.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master of Laws (L.L.M.) degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience as an Associate.
  • Proficiency in drafting pleadings for international arbitrations.
  • Experience with civil law systems, particularly in Latin American jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated skills in cross-examining witnesses and delivering oral arguments.
  • License to practice law.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10% - 20% travel expected).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong research and analytical skills in complex legal matters.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
