Job Overview

A highly regarded law firm in New York City is seeking a Junior Associate to join its Restructuring & Insolvency group. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in developing a focused practice in the workout and enforcement of commercial real estate loans. While prior experience with defaulted loans, litigation, or bankruptcy is a plus, it is not required. Judicial clerkship experience is also highly valued. The role provides the opportunity to work within a robust creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, and insolvency team, with exposure to a wide variety of complex restructuring matters.

Location

Duties

  • Support workout and enforcement efforts related to distressed commercial real estate loans

  • Assist in litigation and transactional matters involving defaulted loans

  • Contribute to bankruptcy and insolvency matters across a range of industries

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on creditors’ rights and restructuring strategy

  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and agreements

  • Conduct legal research and provide case analysis

  • Participate in client meetings, court appearances, and negotiations

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant legal experience preferred

  • Prior exposure to commercial real estate finance, restructuring, or bankruptcy matters (valued but not required)

  • Judicial clerkship experience is a strong plus

  • Active member of the New York State Bar

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York Bar (required)
