Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a talented Patent Agent to join the Electrical Engineering & Software team. This opportunity is available at multiple office locations. The successful candidate will play a key role in patent prosecution and litigation across a variety of technologies, including electrical engineering, software, and communications. The firm seeks a highly skilled individual with expertise in patent law and a strong technical background in related fields.

Location:

  • Redwood City, CA 

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in electrical engineering, software, and related fields
  • Represent clients in patent litigation matters
  • Counsel clients on patent strategy and intellectual property rights
  • Conduct patent searches and manage patent portfolios
  • Prepare and file responses to office actions and engage with the USPTO
  • Collaborate with technical teams to assess and protect intellectual property
  • Perform legal research and analysis related to patent law and technology
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to clients and stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of experience in patent prosecution and litigation
  • Must be admitted to the USPTO
  • Experience in electrical engineering, software, or related technical fields
  • Design engineering experience with chip companies is a plus
  • Knowledge of wireless communication technologies (5G, 6G, 3GPP standards) is a plus but not required
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration required
