Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with at least 5 years of experience in plaintiff personal injury law. This is a full-time, in-office position in Lafayette, LA, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have strong legal research, writing, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues. The role involves a mix of legal research, document management, client meetings, court appearances, and trial preparation.

Location:

Duties:

  • Draft and finalize legal correspondence and pleadings

  • Meet with clients to discuss case details and progress

  • Prepare discovery documents and responses

  • Manage legal documents and case files

  • Prepare for depositions, mediation, and court appearances

  • Attend court hearings, mediation, and trials as needed

  • Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with state and federal rules of procedure

  • Communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely to attorneys and laypersons

  • Independently analyze and apply legal principles to client issues

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plaintiff personal injury law

  • Strong legal research, writing, and organizational skills

  • Ability to convey legal concepts to attorneys, clients, and pro se parties

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail and a positive attitude

  • Ability to work in an organized and efficient manner

  • Goal-oriented with a strong work ethic

  • Ability to independently analyze and apply relevant laws to client issues

  • Proficiency with court websites and research tools

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Louisiana (Louisiana State Bar Association)

  • Valid Driver's License

Skills:
