Associate Litigation Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Associate Litigation Attorney to join its team in Pittsburgh, PA. This full-time opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 1-2 years of litigation experience, particularly in areas such as general liability, professional liability, healthcare, or labor and employment law. Duties

• Litigation Representation:
  • Handle all stages of litigation, from case initiation to expert discovery, primarily focusing on general liability matters.
• Court Appearances & Depositions:
  • Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.
• Research & Discovery:
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and manage discovery investigations to support case development.
• Document Drafting:
  • Draft discovery requests, responses, motions, pleadings, settlement agreements, affidavits, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Case Summaries & Reports:
  • Review discovery responses and depositions, preparing comprehensive case summaries and litigation status updates.
• Settlement Negotiation:
  • Collaborate with opposing counsel to negotiate settlements for clients.
• Client Communication:
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing legal analysis and updates throughout the litigation process.

Requirements

• Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience in litigation, with preference given to those with a background in general liability, professional liability, healthcare, or labor and employment law.
• Licensure:
  • Must be admitted to practice in Pennsylvania (PA); preference for candidates also admitted in West Virginia (WV).
• Skills:
  • Strong writing and organizational skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Lexis software for legal research.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania (PA).

Skills

• Litigation Skills:
  • Experience drafting motions, discovery, and other key litigation documents.
• Research & Analysis:
  • Strong research capabilities, particularly in handling complex legal issues.
• Client Relations:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and provide strategic legal advice.

  • Competent in using legal software tools such as Lexis, Microsoft Office Suite, and case management systems.
